look, this ‘cancel culture’ needs to stop. if you say you no longer support a celebrity because of their actions, but reblog posts of them saying “x person is cancelled af but i love this”, then you’re not being honest with yourself and you’re 100% encouraging tumblr’s toxic cancel culture. it’s not cool and makes you seem fake, tbh. you’re allowed to like to who like, post who you like. maybe you’ll lose a couple of followers for that but are they really worth you policing yourself constantly?
tumblr seems to forget that people are well, people. and people make mistakes all the damn time. when you jump on the hate bandwagon, you’re also saying you don’t believe anyone should be given second chances, and that’s not the way life works. life is trial and error, life is learning. and when you don’t give people room for that, and reject them for making one or a couple mistakes that aren’t even personal to you (and whose repercussions seem amplified when you’re in the public eye, by the way) then what’s the point of it really.
